Unfortunately we are no longer taking bookings for assessments as we are full for the year with a lengthy wait-list. We will reopen for assessment bookings on 1st December 2024, for assessments early 2025.

Naomi Powell-Hector

NZPB Registered Educational Psychologist, PGDipEPP, MEdPsych (distinction), GDipTchg (primary), BA

Naomi is a registered educational psychologist, and the owner of Capital Psychology. A former primary school teacher, she has worked with children in New Zealand, including as an RTLB (Resource Teacher: Learning and Behaviour) and in the UK and Ireland. While in the UK, Naomi gained experience at a specialist school for children with autism, using best practice strategies such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), TEACCH, Intensive Interaction and Sensory Integration.

Mum to two primary-aged children, and married to Grant, Naomi has a special interest in gifted and talented education, as well as helping young people understand their own unique learning abilities.

Marg Lucas

NZPB Registered Educational Psychologist, PGDipEPP, MEd, DipTeaching, LTCL, BA

Marg is a registered educational psychologist, with extensive experience in the primary education sector including as a teacher, deputy principal and an RTLB. Marg is passionate about encouraging students to fulfil their creative and academic potential. She enjoys working with children, young people and their families, with a strong focus on emotional literacy and wellbeing.

With two adult sons and three grandchildren, Marg loves spending time with her family and enjoying the great outdoors. 

Ray Powell

NZPB Registered Psychologist, M.A. (Hons), DipEdPsych, DipTchg, Certified DISCO diagnostician

Ray is a senior consulting psychologist, with considerable New Zealand and international experience. He specialises in working with children, parents, families and schools.

Ray has specialist qualifications through the NAS Lorna Wing Centre for Autism (UK) in Autism Diagnosis, and works closely with Autism NZ. Ray's daughter Naomi is the owner of Capital Psychology.

In his downtime, Ray enjoys refereeing his grandchildren's football games, hiking the hills of Wellington, playing indoor bowls, and adventuring around Aotearoa and the world (when Covid permits).

Grant Hector (Administrator)

In his day job, Grant is a Lead IT Consultant specialising in ERP (enterprise resource planning) implementations. His other, extremely important role is administrator and accountant for Capital Psychology.

Grant is Naomi's husband and dad to their two children. In his minimal spare time, Grant enjoys running and being with his family.
